Editorial Policy

This policy explains how coverhatch creates, reviews, and maintains its content, and the standards every guide is held to.

Who writes our content

Every guide is written by a named member of our editorial team and published under their byline, with a short biography describing their background and the topics they cover.

How we research and write

We ground our content in hands-on experience, official rules from bodies like the IRS and FDIC, provider and platform documentation, and the working knowledge of our contributors, who include a personal finance editor, a former insurance broker, an investing and retirement writer, a credit and debt analyst, and a money-basics staff writer. We write in plain, human language, aim to be genuinely useful rather than merely comprehensive, and we avoid hype, fear-mongering, and recommendations that exist only to sell a product.

Review and human oversight

Content is reviewed by an editor before publication for accuracy, clarity, balance, and tone, and key figures and rules are checked against current documentation and reputable sources. While we may use modern tools to assist research and drafting, every guide is shaped and checked by a qualified human before it goes live.

Corrections and updates

We update guides as rates, rules, and products change, and we correct errors promptly. If you spot something that looks wrong or out of date, please tell us.

Editorial independence

Our recommendations reflect our honest, experience-based judgment. Advertising and affiliate relationships never determine our editorial conclusions, and they never come before giving you advice that genuinely serves your finances.
